Those jonesing for powder can get a little pre-season tease with the latest Warren Miller movie, Children of Winter.

The movie is playing Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24 and 25, at the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen. Showtimes are 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. on Friday, and 3, 6 and 9 p.m. on Saturday.

The holiday season kicks off in Glenwood Springs with the lighting of the historic Hotel Colorado. Each year the historic building is lit with thousands of holiday lights.

There is caroling and festivities for the kids, hot chocolate and treats.

Inside, several animated displays and 12-foot trees decorate the lobby. Santa will be on hand for children to hint at what they want for Christmas.

Lace up your running shoes and head to Grand Junction for the 2008 Rim Rock Run on November, 8. The 37K run, now in its 16th year, is one of America’s most scenic runs.

The course runs through the Colorado National Monument taking runners from high desert through red-rock canyons, majestic mesas, and towering rock monoliths.
