The town of New Castle is seeking community members to serve on its Parks/Open Space/Trails Committee, which makes recommendations to Town Council on developing property owned by the town into community recreation areas, with guidance from the Parks, Open Space, and Trails Master Plan. The committee meets as needed at 7 p.m. first Mondays at New Castle Town Hall, located at 450 W. Main St.

Members of the New Castle community who wish to help plan the development of the town’s parks, open spaces, and trails are encouraged to volunteer to serve on this committee. The Mount Sopris Nordic will sponsor its 22nd annual Mountain Sports Sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Colorado Rocky Mountain School gym.

Individuals may buy or sell equipment for cross-country and alpine skiing, snowboarding, cycling, boating, camping, hockey and everything outdoors.

Equipment check-in is from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the CRMS gym.

All sale proceeds will benefit the trails at Spring Gulch Nordic ski area near Carbondale, so don’t be shy about making a purchase or two.
