The North American Fly Fishing Classic, a fly casting and fishing competition, will be June 10-12 in Basalt.

The singles event features divisions for men, women and juniors (16 and younger) with an accuracy course determining the majority of the points. The distance casting will be used as a tiebreaker.

Nine-foot, 5-weight rods will be used, and each participant will receive a new Orvis WF-5-F Easy Mend fly line for the competition. The top three competitors in each division advance to Sunday’s fishing competition on private waters. The top three finishers from the three divisions earn prize money.

There will also be a separate Big Guns Casting Competition just for fun. A 9-foot, 9-weight rod with a 300-grain shooting head will be supplied for participants.

The registration fee is $60 per person with $15 of each registration going to a conservation effort to be voted on by the participants. The event is limited to 150 competitors.
