Parachute woman dies in I-70 rollover

PARACHUTE, Colorado ” A 20-year-old Parachute woman died Thursday morning in a rollover crash on Interstate 70 three miles west of Parachute.

The Colorado State Patrol identified the accident victim as Heather M. Jay. Jay is the daughter of Craig Jay, director of Facilities for the Garfield School District Re-2.

The CSP said the 2003 Dodge Neon she drove was heading westbound in the left lane not long before 6:40 a.m. when it lost control. It crashed into the center grass median and rolled. Jay was not wearing her seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle, the CSP said.

Neither alcohol, drugs nor speed are considered factors in the accident.
