Pardon us while phones are on fritz

You probably had a hard time reaching us at the Post Independent on the telephone Monday, and the difficulty continues today.

A part inside our telephone system went on the fritz sometime Sunday night, shutting down the phone system throughout our building.

We hope to get the part replaced today.

For the time being, when you call our main line at 945-8515, you’ll be able to leave a message for a staffer, or you’ll get a busy signal.

We’ve got cell phones and telephones hooked up to fax machines, so we will return your calls as quickly as possible. And if you get a busy signal, wait a bit and call back.

We hope that the phones will be back in business by later today. We apologize for inconveniencing you in the meantime.
