Patrol car collides with young bicyclist
A Carbondale Police Department patrol car collided with a juvenile bicyclist on Sunday.
There were no injuries, but the bike was damaged in the collision, Carbondale police chief Gene Schilling said.
The patrol car was turning right from Main Street onto Highway 133, the bicyclist was traveling south on the bike path, and the two collided, he said.
The Colorado State Patrol investigates all incidents involving Carbondale patrol cars, but the report hadn’t been completed by Tuesday afternoon, he said.
Schilling didn’t have any information on what color the stoplight was when the officer made the turn or who might have been at fault.
The Colorado State Patrol could not be reached for comment, but Schilling said reports usually take about five days to complete.
