Pedestrian severely injured after hit by car

A 19-year-old Rifle man sustained severe injuries after he was hit by a vehicle on Highway 6&24 in Rifle.Christopher Lee Spangler was crossing the highway in west Rifle around 10:15 a.m. on Feb. 1. He was walking from the south side of the road toward a white-colored car parked on the north side of the highway when he was hit by a 1986 Jeep, driven by Amber Dawn Tolentino, 26, of Rifle.Tolentino was westbound on Highway 6 at the intersection of Highway 13 when the Jeep struck Spangler, causing him to land on the hood of the white-colored parked car, damaging its windshield. Spangler was thrown about 25 feet, coming to rest on the pavement. Tolentino stopped her vehicle, and Rifle Police arrived on the scene. Rifle Police officer Samuel Stewart collected witness statements and took photos of the accident scene. Stewart issued a citation to Tolentino for not having insurance on the vehicle.
