After opening the season with a win, the Glenwood Springs Youth Hockey Association’s Pee Wee B team hosted Summit for two games in Glenwood on Sunday.

In the first game, Summit led 3-0 early in the second period until Joel Rothman netted his fifth goal in two games to cut the lead to 3-1.

Down 4-1 starting the third period, Glenwood fought hard but ended up surrendering three more goals in what finished as a 7-1 loss.

In the second game, Glenwood trailed by a goal until Noah Jesuroga scored to tie the game at 1.

A goal early in the second period put Summit up by a 3-1 count. Glenwood skated hard and tried to solve the Summit goaltender, but the Grizzlies lost by a final score of 6-1.

Jacob Wedhorn was solid in between the pipes on both games, facing 21 shots in the first game and another 25 shots in the second game.

The Glenwood Grizzly Pee Wee B team will take its 1-2 record into the winter break and hope to start 2011 with a win against rival Aspen Jan. 9 at Lewis Arena.

A busy weekend of hockey is coming up at the Glenwood Springs Community Center ice rink.

First, the Midget team (U19) faces off against a tough Pueblo squad at 7:45 p.m. Saturday evening. Two games will follow on Sunday, with the Grizzlies facing the Junior Eagles at 10:15 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m.
