Philip Arthur Harju

Philip Arthur Harju, age 15, of New Castle, died Tuesday Sept. 27, 2005, at Children’s Hospital in Denver, following a long illness with leukemia.

Philip was a student at Coal Ridge High School. His hobbies included painting and sketching, and building models of cars and trucks. One of his dreams was to have his own garage, “Phil’s Garage.” He had a love of the outdoors and loved snowboarding, biking, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed playing hockey and golf.

Phil taught us to have courage and strength and how to accept what life brings. Phil will be dearly missed by all.



He is survived by his parents, Arthur William and Valerie Kay Harju, of New Castle; brothers Bradley and Benjamin; sisters Leanna, Christie, Laura, Alissa, and Holly; great grandmother, grandparents, several aunts and uncles and many cousins and friends.

Visitation is from 7- 9 p.m. today at the Farnum Holt Chapel in Glenwood Springs.



Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at The Glenwood Church of Christ, 262 Soccerfield Road, in West Glenwood. Burial will follow.

The family suggests that contributions may be made to the Philip Harju Memorial Fund. c/o Alpine Bank.

Farnum Holt Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
