Philomine Emily Young Ironshell Long, 78, from Glenwood Springs, passed away May 3, 2009, at Valley View Hospital.

Philomine was born April 27, 1931, in Rosebud, S.D., to John Louis Ironshell and Alice Ironshell (Bingham).

In 1948 she married Harold Ira Long Sr. in Denver.

Philomine “Mom” Long was a beautiful woman that provided love, wisdom and strength to anyone that sought it. Her home was always open, many were always fed and laughs were always heard. She affected the lives of many people, and she will never be forgotten.

Philomine is survived by her sons Raymond Long, Harold Ira Long Jr. and William Allen Long; son-in law Mike Mangan; daughter Diane Rose Ironshell Mangan; daughter-In- Law Alice Long; sisters-in-law Elvira Long and Rhoda Shortbull; grandchildren Evelyn M. Long, Ross and Amanda Long, David Mangan and Lee Mangan; and great-grandchildren Eddie Mangan, Taylor Mangan, Brooke Long, Joslyn Long, Dylan Long, and Johnny, Jeremy and Jacob Wadsworth.

She was preceded in death by grandson Quint Ira Long.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 9, at 11 a.m. at the Farnum Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs. Father Cliff McMillan will officiate.
