Carbondale honors the dead during their 13th annual Dia De Los Muertos, Day of the Dead, festival on Friday evening. Students of the Carbondale Ross Montessori School opened the festival with a performance and explaination of what Dia De Los Muertos is and why it is important. A procession was then lead through downtown Carbondale to The Third Street Center where Waldorf School students sang and performed for the large crowd. The festival concluded with alter viewings which were put together by members of the community including contributions made by the Crystal River Elementary School, Carbondale Community School and Roaring Fork High School.
