Glenwood Springs musher Bill Pinkham is making his return to the Super Bowl of dog sled racing – the Iditarod.

The 51-year-old Pinkham, who will be making his sixth Iditarod appearance, raced in the Yukon Quest the last two years.

In 2007, Pinkham finished the Iditarod in 32nd place, his best showing ever in the race. In his two years at the Yukon Quest, a 1,000-mile race that routes through Alaska and parts of Canada, he finished 10th and 16th.

The Iditarod features more than 1,100 miles of rough Alaskan terrain and kicks off with a ceremonial start in Anchorage on Saturday.
