Pitkin County real estate dollars up in July

Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado

It’s no secret that the Pitkin County real estate market saw a boost in the month of July with a home sale of $43 million.

As a result of that, Land Title’s market report is showing the only month in 2009 that reported an increase over 2008.

For the month of July, total dollar volume came in at $126,622,273, an increase of 1.73 percent from July 2008.

Unfortunately, the same does not hold true with regard to the transaction total. July reported 43 total transactions, which appears to be on par with the past five months of 2009. The bulk of the July transaction activity took place in Aspen and in the fractional market; these combined accounted for nearly 84 percent of the total. The July transaction total represents a decrease of 35 percent from July 2008.

Year to date, the Pitkin County dollar volume totals $598,093,422, down approximately 29 percent from 2008’s end of July total. Transactions through July total 374 for the county, which lags 2008’s total by approximately 28 percent.
