GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” A Denver visit by President Obama to announce the new economic stimulus package has forced U.S. Senator Michael Bennet to change his plans for a Western Slope visit.

Obama will be in Denver on Tuesday, which was the same day the new U.S. senator planned to visit Glenwood Springs. A planned visit to Frisco has also been canceled.

Bennet was going to stop by the Garfield County commissioners during their regular meeting on Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. The commissioners meet on Tuesday this week because of Presidents Day.



Bennet was appointed to the senate seat after Ken Salazar became Secretary of the Interior.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” State Rep. Kathleen Curry will host a town hall meeting on Thursday, Feb. 26, in Glenwood Springs to present an update on the 2009 legislative session including the topics of the budget and transportation. The community is invited to participate. Please bring your questions and ideas.



The event will be held at the Community Center from 6-8 p.m.

White to discuss gas prices

RIFLE, Colorado ” Sen. Al White and representatives from the Colorado Attorney General’s office will hold a community meeting at 2 p.m. Sat., Feb. 28, in the West Garfield Campus Auditorium in Rifle. This meeting is to address the continued disparity of gasoline prices in our valley (and Rifle in particular) compared with the rest of the state. Gas suppliers are to be in attendance, and interested community members are encouraged to attend and voice opinions and questions.
