Power outage keeps rest area closed

Staff Report

An electrical outage forced the closure of the Grizzly Creek rest area on Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon Saturday.

A representative from the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Hanging Lake office said much of Glenwood Springs also was affected by a temporary electrical outage on Saturday.

The Grizzly Creek rest area was still without power on Sunday, so CDOT closed the area to motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists traveling through the canyon.

The rest area was expected to be closed until power could be restored.
