Prep Basketball Roundup: Rams top Pirates in defensive showdown

Roaring Fork’s boys basketball team survived a defensive struggle at Olathe on Saturday, outlasting the host Pirates, 31-28.

Dakotah Grett and Trae Moxley finished with 11 points apiece to pace the Rams, who upped their record to 5-2 overall and to 4-0 in the 3A Western Slope League.

Roaring Fork won its fifth straight game.

Olathe dropped to 2-4 overall and to 1-3 in league play.

Roaring Fork’s girls couldn’t overcome a sluggish second quarter in Saturday’s 53-45 loss at Olathe.

After taking a 17-10 lead into the second, the Rams were outscored 17-5 to fall behind.

Roaring Fork, which lost its third straight game, fell to 2-5 overall and to 2-2 in league play.

The Pirates moved to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the 3A WSL.

Grand Valley’s boys lost at Basalt on Saturday, 57-49.

Tyler Scott led the Cardinals (0-7) with 14 points.
