Prep roundup: Paskett’s hat trick lifts Cardinals past Rangely

Lauren Paskett’s hat trick lifted Grand Valley to a 5-0 win over visiting Rangely on Tuesday.

Paskett first found net in the fourth minute. The Cardinals didn’t score again in the first half, but struck four times in the second.

Paskett added goals in the 50th and 62nd minutes. Kyra Chenoweth and Hanna Cornelius rounded out the count with subsequent strikes.

Cornelius had two assists and Chenoweth one as Grand Valley improved to 3-3.

Three first-half goals lifted Roaring Fork to a 3-1 girls soccer win over visiting Rifle on Tuesday.

Mia Wedemeyer, Taylor Adams and Kaleigh Wisroth all found net for the Rams, who improved to 4-2.

Adams and Natalie Olivas had assists.

Jocelyn Bracamontes scored the Bears’ lone goal.

Basalt pitchers Tanner Banc and Spencer Glasener combined to shut out Coal Ridge in baseball on Tuesday, 3-0.

Banc tossed four innings of one-hit ball to notch the win. Glasener chipped in with three innings of work, surrendering just two hits in the process.
