Alfonso Hernandez scored three goals as Coal Ridge’s boys soccer team hung a 7-1 loss on visiting Rifle to close out the regular season on Thursday.

Luis Pena added two goals and Carlos Rodriguez and Eliel Ruiz also found net as the Titans improved to 14-1 overall.

At 7-1, Coal Ridge finished second behind Basalt in Class 3A’s Region 3. Basalt wrapped up the league title with a 4-0 win over Vail Mountain on Thursday.



Coal Ridge, one of the region’s five playoff qualifiers, will open the postseason next week.

Rifle finished its season with a 4-10-1 record.



Roaring Fork celebrated senior night with a 5-0 boys soccer win over Grand Valley on Thursday.

The postseason-bound Rams wrapped the regular season with a 9-4-1 record.

Grand Valley finished off its first season of varsity play with a 1-14 record.

Colorado Rocky Mountain School’s boys soccer season came to an end with a 4-1 loss at Hotchkiss on Thursday.

The Bulldogs scored two unanswered goals in the second half to ice the victory, which delivered them 3A Region 3’s fifth and final playoff spot.

CRMS ended its season with a 3-9-1 record.

Palisade held off visiting Glenwood Springs in 4A Western Slope League volleyball play on Thursday.

The Bulldogs won by game counts of 25-23, 25-18 and 25-14.

Glenwood, now 9-9 overall and 4-7 in league play, closes out the regular season with a 1 p.m. visit from Delta on Saturday.
