Prep Sports Roundup: McSwain, Mansfield lift Demons past Palisade

Lilly McSwain and Michaela Mansfield scored goals, helping Glenwood Springs’ girls soccer team to a 2-1 win over visiting Palisade on Tuesday.

Josie Pearson had an assist for the Demons, who improved to 9-1-2 overall and to 9-0-1 in the 4A Western Slope League.

Roaring Fork’s girls tennis team battled Paonia and Hotchkiss in a Saturday doubleheader.

Against Paonia, Paola Santiago picked up a win at No. 2 singles for the Rams. Nicole Cerdenola won at No. 3 singles.

In doubles play, Michelle Lopez and Adriana Perez were victorious at No. 1. Leanna Jenkins and Shaeley Lough won at No. 2, Yaritza Zarate and Brianda Perea at No. 3 and Victoria Schlueter and Sam Denard at No. 4.

Against Hotchkiss, Santiago won at No. 2 singles.

Lopez and Perez won at No. 1 doubles and Zarate and Perea picked up a win at No. 3 doubles.
