Prep Sports Roundup: Rams roll in Basalt, will face Olathe for homecoming tonight
Madison Handy’s 10 kills helped Roaring Fork to its 25-19, 25-18, 25-10 volleyball win over host Basalt on Thursday.
Hattie Gianinetti added nine kills and Megan Gianinetti eight as the Rams improved to 11-2 overall. Josie Horn chipped in with 12 digs.
Roaring Fork will play its homecoming match tonight against Olathe. The action gets under way with the C teams at 4 p.m., junior varsity at 5 p.m. and the varsity at approximately 6 p.m.
The Rams moved up their homecoming match to this week because they’ll be playing out of town next week.
Gunnison’s volleyball team improved to 11-3 with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-13 win over visiting Rifle on Thursday night.
The Bears dropped to 5-8 overall.
Steamboat Springs shut out host Rifle, 6-0, in boys soccer on Thursday.
The loss dropped the Bears to 2-6 overall and to 1-6 in the 4A Western Slope League.
Thursday’s Grand Valley boys soccer game at Moffat County was not played. Instead, the game was rescheduled for Oct. 4 at 4 p.m.
