Primary election deadlines approach

Garfield County Clerk Mildred Alsdorf would like to inform all eligible voters that the deadlines for the 2002 Primary election are drawing near.Early voting begins Monday, Aug. 5, in Suite 200 of the Garfield County Courthouse. The last day to vote early is Friday, Aug. 9. The last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to voters is Tuesday, Aug. 6, and the last day to request an absentee ballot is Friday, Aug. 9.Primary Election day is Tuesday, Aug. 13. Only one polling place will be located in each of the towns, and include -Carbondale Town Hall -Suite 200 of the Garfield County Courthouse in Glenwood Springs-New Castle Town Hall-Silt Town Hall-Rifle City Hall -Parachute Town Hall.All absentee ballots must be returned to the Rifle office by 5 p.m. on election day, or by 7 p.m. in Glenwood Springs. Make sure to sign the ballot envelope and include address and date of birth (required by statute for fraud prevention).In order to vote in the Primary election, voters must declare party affiliation.
