EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – Emergency responders are searching for a private plane that may have gone missing north of Wolcott during Wednesday’s snowstorm.

The plane lost contact with the Eagle County Regional Airport and Denver Center radar around 4:30 p.m., a news release from the county said.

It was still unclear as of about 7 p.m. whether the plane had crashed, County spokeswoman Kris Friel said.

Emergency workers are searching a remote area north of Wolcott and the Horse Mountain Ranch, where the last signal originated, officials said.

The missing plane is a Beech 60 Duke twin engine that had been on final approach into the Eagle County airport, the release said. Officials do not yet have any information about the plane’s registration.
