Public hearing scheduled for Glenwood Springs’ South Bridge Project

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” The city of Glenwood Springs, Garfield County, the Federal Highway Administration and the Colorado Department of Transportation have scheduled a public hearing on the remaining alternatives for the South Bridge Project, and a workshop between City Council and the Garfield County commissioners. The meeting is designed for public officials and community members to discuss the South Bridge Project.

City Council and the commissioners met in February and together decided that it would be beneficial to all if they could agree on a specified route for recommendation.

The proposed South Bridge Project is to provide a critical second route between Highway 82 and the western side of the Roaring Fork River and South Glenwood Springs area to improve emergency evacuation and emergency service access, as well as local land use access.

A final recommendation made by the Federal Highway Administration will ultimately lead to an environmental assessment.
