Public vote needed on golf course funding

Dear Editor,

I would recommend that if you have questions regarding the borrowing of $12.5 million to build a golf course, you go to the City Council meetings and make sure your opinion is known, no matter how you feel.

I am not necessarily for or against the golf course. I am for a public vote, just as a public vote was taken in 1983 and 1991 and the citizens of Glenwood said “no” to a golf course.

This is a great deal of money that City Council wants to borrow, and put up the landfill as collateral.

City Council has already spent money to build this and it has yet to be formally approved. Does that sound right to you? Well it doesn’t to me. They have spent a great deal of money to have someone design it.

I am all for the funding of the pool and feel this may suffer due to the way this has been done. I just ask that everyone be informed as to where your tax dollars are going. I am all for making revenue for the city, but the Community Center has not even done that yet.
