P&Z chair elected to Silt board
Doug Williams is the newest Silt trustee. Williams was elected to the last remaining seat on the board by the six sitting Silt trustees on Monday. He was the chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission, Silt Mayor John Evans said. Williams was competing for the trustee seat against fellow commission member Meredith Robinson.I dont think we necessarily spoke out our reasons, you just interview the candidates, he said. Four people felt he was the best candidate.Williams is now one of four new Silt town trustees who have been elected since April. He could not be reached for comment on Tuesday. Trustee Roxan Jakary was elected to a vacant seat on the town board during the previous Board of Trustees meeting on May 10.Williams and Jakary filled seats that became open when James Kellogg and Shirley Hodges resigned for personal reasons, Evans said.
