Rally good for Glenwood economy

Alice Crabtree, Helen M.C. Benson and Kathryn Fitzgerald

Dear Editor,

Hmmmm, I hear Glenwood Springs has problems. I read about taxes rising on residential properties and how else will we finance a new swimming pool, playground, school projects and library expansion? Just name it, we need it, (at least someone does) and they all cost money.

It seems to us there was a slowdown in our ski industry this past winter due to “funny weather” and that there may be fewer out-of-state hunters this fall due to the wasting disease affecting deer and elk herds. How will our summer season be affected by our national gas and oil crunch?

It seems to us that our local tourist industries would surely welcome an infusion of money from another civic event. The motorcycle rally only lasts three to four days. Noise? Tuck a little cotton in your ears, folks!
