Ralph V. Hubbard

Ralph V. Hubbard, 88, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, in Englewood.Ralph was the son of Erie and Ruby Hubbard of Glenwood, and grandson of Dr. Virgil and Edith Willits Clarke of Basalt, and Charles and Mary Thayer Hubbard, early Roaring Fork Valley settlers.Ralph was born and raised in Glenwood Springs. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Dorothy Craig on June 30,1945. Dorothy taught school and Ralph was a small business owner and employee of the postal service in Glenwood for many years. After retirement, Ralph and Dorothy moved to Escondido, Calif., where they lived until Dorothy’s death in 1996. In 2001, Ralph moved back to Colorado, first living in Grand Junction and later in Denver.He is survived by niece Elaine Caywood of Grand Junction, and her family; brothers Robert and Kenneth and their families; and the family of his late brother Jack. Services will be held at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Centennial, at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29. A memorial service will follow later in Glenwood Springs. Commitment will be in Rosebud Cemetery, Glenwood Springs.
