Re-2 and District 16 superintendents leave positions
RIFLE ” After seven years as the Garfield School District Re-2 Superintendent Gary Pack has resigned.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Garfield Re-2. The staff here is one of the best in the state and that makes it hard to leave,” Pack said.
Pack resigned his position after he accepted a superintendent’s position with Princeton City Schools in Cincinnati, Ohio. Pack has been with Re-2 since July 2001 and will report to Princeton City within the next 60-days. The Re-2 school board will immediately begin a superintendent search.
“It’s bittersweet,” Pack said of the change. “This is an opportunity for me and my wife to be geographically closer to family, and assist a very good district that presents new challenges and opportunities.”
Just down the road in Parachute, Garfield School District 16 superintendent Steve McKee resigned nearly two weeks ago. Reasons for his decision are not known at this time. Former assistant superintendent, Ken Haptonstall, has been named as district 16’s superintendent.
Haptonstall was the assistant superintendent for the past year and his mother Judy Haptonstall is the superintendent for the Roaring Fork School District.
