Congratulations to the Basalt Longhornbots for earning the championship title in the Mountain Regional LEGO Robotics Competition held at Glenwood Springs High School on Nov. 10. We are all very proud of your effort and teamwork. Good luck in the state competition.
Also, a big thanks to the coaches, Kara and Quent Williams, for volunteering their time and resources. Without their involvement, our kids would have missed out on a wonderful experience.
Thanks to all who contributed to Glenwood Springs Youth Hockey Association’s first annual Icebreaker. All the people and businesses who donated to the silent auction and attended this great evening of food, drink, music and entertainment are greatly appreciated.
Your support of youth hockey allows kids to enjoy the fastest game on ice, while learning important life skills and making lasting friendships. With the community support, we are planning to make this great event an annual fundraiser for Glenwood Springs Youth Hockey Association.
Our 2012-13 is now in full swing, but it’s not too late to register for our recreation programs at http://www.grizzlyhockey.com.
Thank you to all the donors, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees for making our first annual Icebreaker a fun event and a tremendous success.

This letter is to all the students that I had the pleasure in teaching at Bikram Basalt and Carbondale. As I didn’t have the opportunity to express how much admiration I have for your practices, for your growth, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart to my eyes of delight, for listening to me and applying what I was inviting into your practice. As a teacher I couldn’t ask for more, and I find myself missing you.
So please keep your eyes peeled for information about classes that I will be teaching in the new year. May your holiday season be filled with joy and a peaceful heart.
If you wish to contact me, please like my Facebook page, Alya Howe, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sopris Elementary School PIE (Partners In Education) would like to thank the community for the generous support recently given to our annual Math-a-thon fundraiser. This is our primary annual fundraising event, with all proceeds directly impacting students, teachers and their classrooms.
Each SES student was encouraged to collect pledges for their performance on a grade-level math test. Community businesses donated award items that students won at a closing assembly based on the number of chances they earned from their collection totals.
SES PIE would like to thank all of the friends, families and neighbors that supported SES students. A total of $9,480 was raised.
We also want to thank the local businesses that made contributions to this year’s Math-a-thon: Alpine Bank, Glenwood Caverns and Adventure Park, Glenwood Springs Community Center, Glenwood Springs High School Booster Club, Mountain Sports Outlet and Sunlight Mountain Resort.
