Saturday’s yard sale, in the Community Banks parking lot, to benefit United Way of Garfield County, was a smashing success. Sincere thanks to bank president Rodney Naylor and staff for donating, pricing, organizing, selling and tearing down. Special thanks to the community members (you know who you are) for donating so much.
We all look forward to the second annual yard sale next year.

I would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Susan Ebert-Stone, Norma Barr, Carolyn Spence and Berne Mitton, from the Church at Carbondale, for organizing and hosting the Advocate Safehouse Housewarming Shower Oct. 10. Because of their generosity of time and energy, the safehouse received many wonderful and beautiful household items, as well as checks to purchase the items still needed.
I also want to thank all the individuals who attended the shower and/or who gave us a shower gift. Because of all of you, the safehouse is ready to welcome families in need.
