Readers say thanks

The New Castle Lions Club would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all who attended our annual Community Dinner on Saturday, November 22, 2008. We had a wonderful turnout of approximately 100 people. There were members of all ages celebrating the beginning of the holiday season with Jack Jabbour and Darren Thelen providing music.

The New Castle Lions Club would like to thank the businesses that pitched in to make this event such a success. These businesses seem to be the ones that are always behind the scenes of community-based activities, and these events wouldn’t be possible without their support. Thank you to Mr. T’s for use of the warmers and sterno; the town of New Castle for use of the community center; Intermountain Distributing for the to-go boxes, plastic ware and other service items; Jack Jabbour for not only playing guitar and singing, but doing so after announcing the Glenwood Demons playoff game with Ron Milhorn of KMTS (who attended the dinner with his family); Darren Thelen, a science teacher at Riverside who played guitar and sang as well; Gran Farnum Printing for the magnificent posters (and all the girls there who donated food items); Gabe Chenoweth of KMTS; Kay Vasilakis and the Glenwood Springs Post Independent who gave us air time and publicity for the event; Riverside and Coal Ridge schools who created original holiday placemats; and lastly all of those who prepared or donated food and those too numerous to name who helped to set up, serve and clean up.

Again, many, many thanks to the folks of New Castle.
