Readers Say Thanks
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado
I am writing this letter to give an overdue thank you to all the volunteers that helped with the RIDE program this year. There are many great junior high, high school and “senior citizens” that just do their volunteer jobs and then go on with their day. Yet, the RIDE program, could not survive without the special volunteers from the community. The RIDE program is a nonprofit therapeutic riding program. It is a special place for special people. It helps children and adults feel the movement of walking, it gives them a voice to sing and a smile to last all day. These volunteers make it happen, they come with happy hearts and give unconditionally to the students.
The community has pulled together, not only in volunteering, but in giving donations that help us survive. Many of the supporters are Alpine Bank, Wal-Mart, the Williams Family, Knights of Columbus, Mountain Beverage, Aspen Community Foundation, Cecil G. and Jessie L. Deardorff Memorial Trust, Sheri Scruby, Sally Brands, and if I have not mentioned your name, I apologize. This community is quiet and easy going, but behind all this beauty, is the beauty of our volunteers. They help all of us put life in perspective and teach us to enjoy the small moments, such as a child singing “happy trails” as he “walks on” with his pony! Thanks again, and if you want to get more than you can give – volunteer!
