We’d like to thank the wonderful guys at A-1 Heating in Rifle, Brad and Dustin Church and Mickole Ogden. Shortly after returning from Arizona, we found that our furnace was not working at the beginning of a week-long cold snap. They responded immediately and within a few days we had a new furnace and air conditioner installed. Not only were they very professional, but very friendly. They explained equipment options and available rebates. The finished product was a high-efficiency system that was installed in a workman-like manner and provided us with a neat and clean retrofit to the existing ductwork. What could have been a nightmare turned out to be a great experience, and we’d use these guys again for any heating, air conditioning or plumbing job needed. Thanks again Brad, Dustin and Mickole for a job well done.Paul and Elaine BussoneBattlement Mesa
I am elated with joy as our vision for the 5Point Film Festival was truly captured at this year’s event. In a gathering of the tribe, filmmakers, special guests and an engaged audience filled the Carbondale Rec Center, celebrating with unprecedented energy a spirit for adventure of all kinds. One of the most beautiful aspects of the 5Point Film Festival is the relationship we have developed with our loyal and generous sponsors, both local and from the outdoor community. These sponsors have been family to 5Point from its inception, signing on to an event originally sketched out on a breakfast napkin. They felt it and got it from the beginning and have never looked back. My sincere appreciation and gratitude goes out to you all. 5Point would never be a reality without our “5Point Chicks”: Beda Calhoun, Brie Bath, Amy Kimberly, Kelly Alford, Jennifer Slaughter, Margaret Mathers, Sharon Newsom, Tracy Wilson, Maureen Rothman, and Jennifer Swanson, and our token male, “the voice of reason,” my patient husband Michael Kennedy. Our many 5Point volunteers were exceptional once again – thanks to all of you for being an invaluable part of the extraordinary success of this year’s festival.Hopefully all of you who attended the 5Point Film Festival this year walked away with a newfound curiosity and thirst for adventure, be it half a world away or right here in our magical mountain town. Happy summer,Julie Kennedy5Point Film Festival founder/director
On Friday, April 23, Grand River hosted the annual Volunteer Gala to honor the 204 volunteers who care throughout the seasons and work hard to support Grand River Hospital District. I would like to give a special thanks to those behind the scenes of our event: Lynne Miller, Elisha Harvey and the great Nutritional Services team at Grand River, Landon Churchill of ArtillumA and the Academy of Dance and Gymnastics, the Garden School Service Club, Gordon Spangenberg for providing a free car wash at Grease Monkey for 84 Meals on Wheels drivers, Kathy at Country Florist, and to the others who helped make the Grand River Volunteer Gala such a fun event. Congratulations to JoAnn Duffy, our Adult Volunteer of the Year, who has volunteered with GRHD for 31 years and put in 439 hours in 2009, and Hannah Roush, our Young Adult Volunteer of the Year, for her year of caring and dedication. 2009 was a great year of volunteering at Grand River, but I am looking forward to the outcome of 2010 already. If you would like to join the volunteer ranks, please give me a call at 625-6423 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.Kaaren Peckmanager of Volunteer Services & Meals on WheelsGrand River Hospital DistrictRifle
