Readers Say Thanks
Glenwood Springs High School and the junior and senior parents would like to thank our community for donating prizes, supplies, time and money to make our May 1 After Prom Extravaganza (APE) a huge success! Your generosity is appreciated by the many students who attended this event and by the parents for having a safe and fun place for our kids to go after prom. With a theme like Candyland, Lorrie and Roger Brown made sure that students were greeted in a magically decorated place filled with pails and pails of delicious candy! Vicky Steele, Teresa McDermott, Sue Kuhn, Lori Ciani and Barb Brown also helped transform the high school into Candyland! By walking through the candy corridor, students found a great variety of games organized by Shelli Caple, Shannon and John Pelland and Teresa Bianco. Delicious food and drinks were available throughout the entire night thanks to Jody Kontour, Molly Robison and Nancy VanDevander. The event was run and supervised by several volunteers arranged by Paula Matheson and Vicky Steele. As students had time to wonder and take a break from watching a magic trick or going down the giant slide, they could listen to music while admiring the picture boards placed around the lobby. Last by not least, the fundraising of prizes and cash donations was done by Terri Montoya and Melanie Stevens who made sure that there were plenty of gifts for students at the end of the night. A special thanks to the Nicola family for their generous gift for the prize wheel. Along with the organizing committee, the following volunteers supervised the rides and the doors during the night: Lisa Orosz, Vicky Steele, Donna Yost, Connie & Daniel Biggs, Robin Bennett, Bonnie & Marc Whitman, Buck Williams, Delia and Miguel Delgado, Cindy Stolfus, Kim Martin, Jeff Carlson, Linda Mansfield, Charlie Montover, Wendy and Brandon Weeden, Debie McCown, Deb Williams, Chris and Amy Treese and Cheryl Peterson.
