It takes a community to raise great kids. Wow, that has never been more true than during this year’s 20th anniversary YouthZone Kiss-n-Squeal event. The community support was remarkable from Parachute to Aspen!! All of us at YouthZone would like to thank you for your incredible efforts in making this happen. Shots on goal were plenty during the second annual New Castle 5 v 5 Soccer Shootout at the VIX Ranch Park in New Castle on Saturday, Aug. 21. Twenty-five teams arrived to the pitch from as far away as Craig and Montrose. The all day event drew crowds of people in the hundreds. Be sure to mark your calendar for next year’s tournament on Aug. 20.

Congratulations to the champions: U12 Boys – U.D.E.P. (New Castle), U12 Girls – Glenwood Hotshots, U14 Girls – Montrose Avalanche, U14 Boys – Eagle Talons, High School girls – Golden Girls (Craig), High School Boys – Craig, Adult Coed – No Name, and Adult men – Duendes.

Congratulations also go out to all the runner’s up, New Castle Pride U12 girls, New Castle Pride Blue U14 girls, YMCA (New Castle) U14 boys, Basalt High School boys, Has Been’s adult coed, and U.D.E.P. adult men’s.
