Meals on Wheels of Western Garfield County is honored to be a recipient of a Meals on Wheels Association of American (MOWAA) grant at the Gold level, a high level we have never received.

Our Meals on Wheels program is financially supported and run by Grand River Hospital District, but depends greatly on the generosity of local citizens, businesses and organizations like MOWAA to stay afloat.

Meals on Wheels delivered more than 10,000 meals in 2010 to senior, disabled, and recovering individuals in New Castle, Silt, Rifle and Parachute.

This grant was given to us because of the strength of our program, the support of the local community, and the willingness of the local media to help spread our message that no senior should go hungry.

I would like to thank all of you who support our program, whether you volunteer, donate, or just tell people about what we do. I would also like to extend my appreciation to our local media, including the Post Independent and the Citizen Telegram, for their support and coverage of our 2011 Meals on Wheels campaign.
