Basalt Recreation would like to thank all the wonderful volunteer coaches who made our Summer Rec League baseball and softball season another success. These coaches spend an enormous amount of time on the diamond showing our players technique, sportsmanship, and how to have fun whether winning or losing. There is a great deal of juggling work schedules they have to do to insure each of these children have a great time on the diamond, not to mention the heavy equipment bag they have to lug around. We are very grateful for all they do for the youth of Basalt. Thank you to Alexa Aitken, Mike Bassi, David and Kim Briscoe, Michael Coyle, Chris Dolan, Brad Elliott, Stephen Ellsperman, Kevin and Melissa Glenn, Santiago Gonzales, Brian Hipona, Robert Hubbell, Abby and Katie King, Jon Leibell, Mitch Levy, Kevin Michelson, Tom Moore, John Narby, Jake Ryan, Marge Schrock, Sylvester Silva, Kris Sinko, Roger Smith, Scott Strobel, Tony Thompson, Shane Vetter and Rod Woelfle. Many thanks to all the parents for providing treats and lending a hand when needed. Also many thanks to all the players who did the best they could. You are all first place with Basalt Recreation.Dorothy Howard Basalt Recreation Department

To the naked eye, it’s obvious that our valley is so rich in beauty and diversity, but what may not be obvious is the medley of compassion, kind and selfless deeds that our community displays when needed. The fund-raising yard sale held on July 23 in West Glenwood for the Dalitz family was a tremendous success and raised $2,500, all because of the magnanimity of our community. For this reason, we don’t even know how to show our gratitude to everyone involved, so at the very least, we want to give a big, beefy thank you to the following for donating their time or items: Alpine Technologies, Amy Brown, Annette Franta, Beth Nicol, BPOE No. 2286, Clay Crossland, Colin Bailey, Colorado River District, Daniel and Connie Biggs, David Adamson, Dawn Waldrop, Dr. Lisa Fitzwilliams, Ed and Carolyn O’Deal, Eileen Wysocki, Gladys Andrade, Jen Smith, Jessica Kluth, Jimmy Kucera, John Buxman, Karyn Hamick, Kathy Yost, Lisa Hughes, Lori Jewell, Maria Garcilazo, Marty Garfinkle, Mickey Stephens, Mike Kluth, Nancy Soltero, Natshia Stock, Paula Deverensky, Paula Mathason, Rachel Etzel, Rona Fisher, Sharon Stephenson, Shawn Tolle, Sonya Turner, Taylor House, Tom and Polly Towey, Vicki O’Halloran and Yvonne Otto. We can only hope that your kindness & generosity comes back to you two-fold. Holly McCombs and Lorra NicholsGlenwood Springs
