Thanks to all those who supported our local soccer club. Glenwood Soccer became an official organization in 1980 and has provided soccer training and competition for kids aged 4-19 for over 30 years. Even in the past few seasons with a tough economy and many alternate sport choices, many children continue to play soccer. We are grateful to many individuals and community organizations who have pledged financial support and made all kinds of donations to allow our club to thrive. We appreciate the grant support from the City of Glenwood Springs. Al Laurette, Tom Barnes and Yvette Baker have been very helpful working with us to schedule, paint and maintain fields for our use.Colorado Mountain College has the Gates Soccer Complex – conceived, built, and maintained through a partnership with Glenwood Soccer. Practices, summer camps, tournaments and competitive league games are played on these fields. JD Miller has been a great steward of the fields for CMC – the complex is in great condition thanks to his efforts. These local donors sponsored teams, contributed to the Glenwood Invitational Tournament, and helped to scholarship players this year: Dalby Wendland & Co., Rhonda Moser Law Offices, Alpine Bank, All Kids Dental, Earth-Wise Horticultural, Trailhead Technologies, Inc., American National Bank, Phil and Patty Weir, Lynn and Courtney Kleager, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Berthod Motors, Glenwood Noon Rotary Club, Grand River Construction, CARS LLC, Drs. On Friday, Dec.16, we experienced a very scary event. My grandson Luis went missing. It was a great morning on Saturday, Dec. 17, when he was found safe and sound. On behalf of my family, we would like to thank everyone for all of their kindness, prayers and efforts in finding Luis, from the Carbondale Police Department and CBI, to our neighbors and friends. In our time of fear and despair they were there to help. It is times like these that show us the true meaning of a supporting community.Manuela CarmonaCarbondale
