The Sopris Elementary School PIE (Parents Involved in Education) group would like to thank the community for the generous support given to our annual Math-a-thon fundraiser. This is our primary annual fundraising event, with all proceeds directly impacting students, teachers and their classrooms.

Rhonda Moser-Whitlock and Rachel Armstrong co-chaired this event. Along with a committee of invaluable parent volunteers, the team coordinated a successful event.

Each SES student is encouraged to collect pledges for their performance on a grade-level math problem challenge. Community businesses donate award items that students win at a closing assembly based on the number of chances they earned from their collection totals.

SES PIE would like to thank all friends, families and businesses that donated to SES students. Their support makes a difference in the experiences and successes of students.

Local businesses making contributions to this year’s Math-a-thon were Alpine Bank, City Market, Gear Exchange, Glenwood Caverns and Adventure Park, Glenwood Springs Community Center, Glenwood Springs High School, McDonald’s, Rachel Armstrong, Rhonda Moser, SES PIE, Sunlight Mountain Resort, Target, Trulove Photography, WalMart and Wendy’s.

And finally, John Buxman and The Springs Theater welcomed the two classrooms raising the most funds to a complimentary movie showing. This incentive was a great way to reward collective classroom effort.
