I am doing research for a documentary on that vanishing and now almost extinct American landmark, namely, the “privey,” “outhouse” and sometimes called the “convenience.”

I welcome letters from those seniors who still have nostalgic memories, comical experiences, photos, drawings, or jokes on the “outhouse” of days gone by.

Under the Roosevelt administration, there were well over 50,000 WPA privies built in the rural areas. Modern technology of indoor plumbing has caused its demise and almost complete extinction.
