Neighboring resort communities comprised of Garfield, Pitkin, Eagle, Routt and Summit Counties continue to be strong in dollar volume of real estate sales through June 2007. Year to date sales volume for 2007 for the five county area is $5,081,941,953.00, up $1,042,627,000.00 from year to date 2006, a dollar volume increase of 20%. Average sales prices have also increased across the board in all counties in the past six months. A review of sales figures from December 2006 to June of 2007, indicate that average sales prices are rising in all of the resort counties. This six month period shows that Pitkin and Eagle increased 20%, Routt County at 9.5%, Garfield at 6.5% and Summit at 4.5%. All in all, the resort markets seem to be a bit more insulated than other areas in Colorado and across the nation, who have experienced slower home sales and flattening prices. The mountain resort areas continue to attract the more affluent second and vacation home buyers who typically have more disposable income and time to spend enjoying this very desirable place to live.
