RFTA bus routes temporarily affected by fire

Staff ReportGlenwood Springs, CO Colorado

Despite the fire on Hwy 82, RFTA buses are running between Aspen and Basalt, and between Carbondale and Glenwood Springs. Buses have access into the town of Carbondale where they are turning around and making a loop back to Glenwood. On the leg between Aspen and Basalt, buses are going as far as the Basalt Park & Ride where they are turning around and looping back to Aspen. Service to all stops on those open legs is still running and trying to stay on schedule, and RFTA has temporarily lifted fares all the routes, until the emergency situation is under control.Service even in these areas may change depending on the status of the fire and the amount of traffic generated as a result of the fire. The best advice RFTA can give to commuters heading upvalley out of Glenwood, or downvalley from Aspen is to sit tight and wait it out. For those in Aspen – town is empty and there are plenty of seats at the local eateries.
