RHS Report

Leah Silvieus

We’ve been through the good times and the bad, the tragedies, and the triumphs. The 2003 school year is coming to a close, and it’s time to say goodbye. We will go our separate ways and perhaps this will be the end.

Graduation seems so abrupt, sending us off to our new lives, and prom seems like a fleeting memory.

This year, the senior class is having a banquet, one last evening to share with classmates and friends. The banquet this year will be held in the RHS gym and commons on May 14. The senior class and adult volunteers have been working on the banquet for months. The evening will include dinner, a dance, recognition of scholarships, and a senior video which will show baby pictures and pictures of the students throughout the year. In addition to recognition of scholarships, the class has voted on other student awards ranging from “Most Smartest” (note the irony) to “Most Likely to Be a Star.”

The banquet was a tremendous undertaking, and it would not have been possible without the help of many volunteers. Thanks goes to Jennifer Maher, the head senior class sponsor, and all of the parent volunteers who donated time, resources, and effort into making this event memorable.

For more about seniors, check out the May edition of the Blue and Gold Gazette in The Citizen Telegram next week!

RHS was alive this past week with campaign posters, speeches, and students swarming (or, OK, gathering) around ballot boxes to vote on the new student council. Hailey McDonald and Thomas Breslin are student body president and vice president (respectively). Congratulations to the other class officers and representatives! The new council will be meeting the end of this year to get a head start on next year’s homecoming.
