Richard A. "Butch" Wilson

Richard A. “Butch” Wilson of rural Iola, Kan., died Friday, May 10, 2002, at his home. He was 56.He was born Feb. 13, 1946, in Princeton, Ind., to Delbert and Marguerite Johnson Wilson.He graduated from Clarence High School in Missouri and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.He worked most of his life in construction in Colorado and Arizona. While in Glenwood Springs, he owned Coreco Construction.He also fished for several years on the professional circuit.He married Janna Johnson Swope on Nov. 8, 1996. They lived in Osage Beach, Mo., and moved to Iola in 1999.Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Rich and Nicole Wilson of Seattle; a daughter, Morgan Page Wilson, a stepson, Kyle Swope, and a stepdaughter, Hailey Swope, all of the family home; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Doug Coate of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; his mother-in-law and her husband, Pat and Don Boyer of Iola; and two grandchildren.Cremation has taken place.Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
