Richard J. Blanc

Richard J. Blanc passed away Jan. 20, 2008, in Glenwood Springs.

He was born Feb. 7, 1919, in Carbondale, to Oscar J. and Lena Cerise Blanc. He attended schools in Carbondale and Basalt.

Richard joined the armed forces in 1942, and served 31⁄2 years. He also served one year in the Korean War.

He married Emma Cullet on March 22, 1943.

He was a member of the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

He was a builder in the Aspen and Glenwood Springs area for many years.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing, and woodworking and he had a love for small animals. He walked a small black and white dog named Bo twice a day, every day, for 12 years.

Richard is survived by his wife; seven nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Amelia Trentaz.

A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Rosebud Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Colorado Animal Rescue, 2801 County Road 114, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601; St. Stephen’s Catholic School, 1805 Blake Ave., Glenwood Springs CO 81601; or to a charity of your choice.
