Richard Rico Edward Barry

Rick Rico Barry passed away Oct. 30, 2008, at St. Marys Hospital in Grand Junction with his family by his side.Rick was born Nov. 24, 1961, in Durango, to Dick and Sara (Zink) Barry. The family moved to Carbondale in 1969. He attended Roaring Fork High School and graduated, as class president, in 1980. He attended Fort Lewis College for two years.Rick met his future wife, Diane Light, while working as a lift operator at Snowmass Mountain in 1983. Rick and Diane married in 1993. The joy of Ricks life was his son. Rick loved hunting with his brother Mike and teaching his son to fish.Rick was also a whiz at home building, and for many years enjoyed working as a construction superintendent for Mineo & Associates Fine Homebuilders. Rick was a very loving and caring father, husband and brother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zacharys education fund, Account Held In Trust For Zachary Barry, c/o Alpine Bank, or to a charity of your choice. Rick is survived by his wife; son Zachary; brother Mike (Cory) Barry; nephew Buckshot Barry of Carbondale; sister Connie Barry of Monte Vista; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at St. Marys of the Crown Catholic Church, 397 White Hill Road in Carbondale. Burial to follow at White Hill Cemetery.
