Kim Doose

The Rifle Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner and awards banquet Saturday evening in Rifle.

More than 190 people attended the Hollywood-themed gala called, “There’s No Business Like Your Business.”

The event serves as one of the Chamber’s biggest fundraisers. The Chamber, which was started in 1905, serves local businesses in the communities of Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, New Castle, Silt, Meeker, Rifle, Parachute and Grand Junction.

Through business development and community involvement, the Chamber provides benefits and support to more than 250 members.

Chamber ambassadors welcome new businesses, host open houses, attend grand openings, and conduct ribbon-cutting ceremonies.

Every year the Chamber gives three awards which honors outstanding businesses and individuals in the community.

Marcia Kent, of Wells Fargo, is the Oran Harmon Memorial Award Person of the Year.

Sam Potter is the John B. Scalzo Lifetime Achievement Award winner and Savage Land Company won the Rifle Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Award.
