Rifle ballots are due today at City Hall

RIFLE For those Rifle residents who haven’t yet mailed in their ballot for the municipal election, there’s still time to cast a vote.Voters have until 7 p.m. today to get ballots in to Rifle City Hall at 202 Railroad Ave. Registered voters in the city of Rifle may still obtain a ballot at City Hall and turn it in. Ballots not received by today, even if postmarked by Sept. 11, will not be counted, according to City Clerk Wanda Nelson.The municipal election includes four candidates running for three open seats on the Rifle City Council, along with three ballot questions.The candidates include incumbent Jonathan Rice, Gary Osier, Jay Miller and Jeanette Thompson.Voters also will decide today on whether to approve a 2.5 percent lodging tax, allow police officers to live more than 25 miles from the city and whether a land swap should take place between the city and the Western Rockies Federal Credit Union.
