RIFLE, Colorado ” The body of a man found floating in Rifle Creek Tuesday morning has been identified as Matthew Joseph Fletcher, 45, of Oklahoma, according to Rifle Police Chief Daryl Meisner.

Fletcher was an energy worker and according to the Garfield County Coroner, died of natural causes about two weeks ago, Meisner said. No foul play is suspected.

Police were contacted at 9 a.m. on Tuesday by a fisherman who discovered the body where the creek intersects Centennial Parkway.

“We don’t know how he got in the river,” Meisner said.

The Rifle Police Department was assisted by Garfield County Search and Rescue and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
