Rifle man arrested for DUI after an alleged hit-and-run on I-70

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. A Rifle man was arrested for drunken driving Wednesday night after reportedly driving 15 miles on Interstate 70 with a broken window following a collision with a semi.Anthony Colletta, 46, was cited for driving under the influence, careless driving and weaving, and taken to Garfield County Jail, said Colorado State Patrol trooper Marcus Stegman. The incident happened shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday. A witness in another vehicle called dispatchers to report that a sport utility vehicle had sideswiped a semi at about mile marker 113 on westbound Interstate 70. Stegman said both vehicles continued on after the accident.A New Castle police officer pulled over Colletta at about mile marker 98 just east of Silt. CSP officers also responded, and Stegman said Colletta refused to take a blood alcohol test.Stegman said Colletta insisted the truck had sideswiped him, and officers never heard the truck driver’s version of the story because they never learned who had been driving the truck. The witness to the crash didn’t leave contact information with authorities, so officers decided not to cite Colletta for hit and run.The accident broke a rear side window in the SUV.Colletta remained in jail Thursday night in lieu of $1,825 bond.Post Independent, Glenwood Springs Colorado CO
